This 2024 edition updates the original release of Kotori Kawashima's photobook Miraichan with a more sophisticated binding, better print quality and an additional six photographs not included in the 2011 edition.

Miraichan captures an entire year in the life of Mirai, a four-year-old girl living on the island of Sadoshima in Japan. From winter to spring, summer, autumn and winter again, Kawashima follows Mirai on her daily adventures in the rural and classic Japanese landscape of the island. What sets Miraichan apart from other series about young children is the sheer variety of situations, the nuance of Kawashima's approach, Mirai's extraordinary expressiveness, and the light-hearted yet respectful tone of the photographs. Although photographed with an eye for cuteness, Kawashima takes Mirai and her experiences seriously.
